What do you think about happiness?

Today, I want to think about happiness continuing on from last time.

What was your first impression while watching the video?

I thought it was very philosophical.

Because I don’t even think about happiness seriously.

So, I will give you some questions.

Q1. What makes you happy? Are you happy?

It’s important to do something I really want.

I like to eat great foods and watch movies.

By the way, I saw the movie Minari recently.

I like serious films like it.

When I watched it, I thought of one of my Korean-American friends.

At first, I misunderstood the ending.

I thought the grandma died and they were going to sell the minari.

I really thought that the grandma would throw herself into the fire to put it out.

I felt really sad about the ending.

And the role of the grandma, she gave many awards in America.

It was the first time a Korean got an Oscar for the role of an actress.

Anyway, I recommend this movie.

I try to enjoy living happily nowadays.

Q2. What’s happiness?

I think happiness is to be the way I am, doing whatever I want without thinking about others.

And it’s important to not regret what happened in the past.

Because I’m the person who keeps thinking about past mistakes and negative thoughts.

So, I’ve been trying not to keep thinking about them.

When my resolve is weak, I turn to negative thoughts.

Q3. What does it take to be happy?

Money determines happiness in this area.

It isn’t really necessary to be rich.

Even Though you are rich, you might not have time to shop or spend money or you wouldn’t be happy.

In this video, it says happiness is elusive.

I agree with that.

Q4. In 2022, Finland was named the happiest country in the world for the fifth in a row. Have you heard of Finland before? What’s your guess on why Finland might be the happiest and not South Korea.

I know only that Finland is in Europe.

I’ve never heard that Finland is the happiest country in the world.

Actually, Koreans don’t care about happiness.

We are busy living and earning.

So, Korea was ranked the highest of suicide rate in OECD 20.

I think Finland people are well-off and they have a good welfare system.

After the 52-hour work week system was in place, it’s gotten better, but the boomer generation doesn’t like it in Korea.

I think we’ll try hard to overcome the generation gap first.

We should think about happiness in our life like work-life balance or welfare systems, etc.
